Tof High Voltage System Description

High Voltage Generator and Interface System

The CAEN A938A HV generator and CAEN V288 controller has been purchased (as of 7/11/95) to control 5 PMT panels which is 1/2 of the total needs of TOF. These will be used at the WA98 experiment at CERN until late 1996. They will then be shipped to BNL. A second set of 5 panels of PMTs will be delivered to BNL in mid 1997.

System Summary

There are 1024 HV channels which supply high voltage to 2048 det ch (512 if 4 PMTs per HV generator )

A decision on whether 2 or 4 PMTs will be controlled from a single HV generator has not yet been made

Online System Interface to TOF High Voltage System

The Caen interface to the Phenix Online control system will be a VME memory mapped controller CAEN model V288. A driver for EPICS will be written to control the high voltage system.

Schedule

will use CAEN at CERN on WA 98 experiment until late 1996

panels and HV equipment will be shipped to BNL at the end of the experiment.

5 panels of PMTs (1/2 of total will be deliverd to BNL by mid 1997

Interface Development Required

It is expected that driver development for the V288 controller will be started in mid 1996.
