What worked
Despite assurances that this the end of the world as we know it, the migration from Solaris to Linux for the buffer boxes was a great success.
Raid0 on (relatively) inexpensive hardware just worked
Thanks to Chris diligence, we are probably running the fastest Alteon Gigabit cards on this planet (well, now we gave the drivers to the folks at DESY)
The ET system has proven itself
CORBA Control extending to Linux worked nicely
HPSS transfers and scripts are rock-solid
Interaction with the RCF (++) and ITD (+) network Healy’s appears to function well enough
The VA farm worked nicely from a hardware/performance perspective
Desktop support went from the nightmare scenario in 2000 to negligible after the major revamp early 2001.
The Bigscreen TV worked nicely...
