• Results from Year-1 at RHIC:
  • Very high energy density (~70% higher than at SPS) above the expected critical value for QGP.
  • Large particle production, rising faster than number of participant nucleons (onset of hard processes).
  • Closer to net baryon-free central region
  • Strong elliptic flow signal (early collective rescattering)
  • Increased baryon over meson yield above pT=2 GeV/c
  • First evidences of possible partonic energy loss in QGP
  • Other PHENIX analysis (not mentioned): HBT radii, event-by-event fluctuations, electron pT spectrum ...
