- Proportional mode w/ sufficient gain to overcome thermal noise of the Iarocci tubes (1 nF/channel)
- Fast (ideally all tubes readout in a one 106 ns window)
- LVL1 input (violating 106 ns ? no independent muon trigger)
- pp running (high luminosity means ɮ events per crossing)
- Beam gas

- iC4H10/CO2 (any ratio from 10%-100% iC4H10) was the only mixture that satisfied all requirements
