Conclusions - Intermezzo
The symset architecture implemented in re-programmable chips leaves enormous flexibility.
Future upgrades limited only by symset I/O, gate count in the symset chip, and the choice of logical tubes.
- The 85 tubes included in a symset span the space of tubes which could be fired by a vertex muon entering at the center of that symset.
- With independent track-depth reporting for each logical tube in gap 1, the data presented to the cluster-count hardware is as fine-grained as possible.
- Gate counts are quite generous even for a rather complicated algorithm because pin-outs are a much more severe limitation.
