Research Interests

Relativistic Heavy Ion Physics, Elementary Particle Physics--from muons to gluons.

Previous: Muon elastic and inelastic scattering; Muon g-2; muon tridents---
first measurement of the statistics of the muon; photoproduction with a tagged beam;
single leptons, lepton pairs and high transverse momentum phenomena in proton-proton
collisions---first direct measurement of the constituent scattering angular distribution;
polarized proton collisions at relativistic energies; superconductive magnetics.
Relativistic heavy ion collisions: ET distributions, fluctuations.

Current: PHENIX at RHIC: single leptons, lepton pairs and high transverse momentum phenomena in Au+Au and p-p collisions—discovery of suppression of pizeroes at large transverse momentum in Au+Au collisions, discovery of antiproton/π- enhancement at intermediate pT, xT scaling, jT kT xE phenomenology of jets and jet-paiirs,  jet-suppression and properties as a function of path length in medium; event-by-event fluctuations, ET and multiplicity distributions in `extreme-independent' models using Gamma and Negative Binomial distributions. Gluon spin-structure function using direct photon production, flavor Identified structure functions using parity violating W production, new physics via parity violation in ~100 GeV jets.
