sPHENIX Hero: Blair Seidlitz


How long have you been working in sPHENIX and at what institution?

Two years with Columbia University.

What is the focus of your work on the sPHENIX experiment?

Calibration and overall performance of the sPHENIX calorimeters.

Where were you born and what is your educational background before your current position?

I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I went to undergrad at University of Wisconsin Madison and got my Ph.D at University of Colorado Boulder.



What is the title of your Ph.D. or tentative title? Awards or biggest talk highlight?

Collective Phenomenon in Photonuclear and Other Small Collision Systems. Here are two papers based on my thesis: arxiv:2101.10771 and arxiv:2308.16745.

How did you decide to go into heavy ion or spin research?

Dennis needed someone to do photon jet measurements...hehe But I stayed becauses of HI's diverse set of physical models, from for example pQCD and nPDFs to strongly coupled fluids, which all end up interacting with one another.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Rock climbing!
