Here is brief summary of mutr FEE noise study, updated 12/14/2000 Baseline configuration: S-1: LV, Calib, partial HV S-2: LV,Calib, HV; all chambers are tied together by default S-3:LV,Calib, HV; in principle, all chambers are tied together only through calibration shield wires. see:sX-rms-vs-ch-12-14-2k.gif Impedance cross chassis should be ~1 Ohm, but measured close to ~0 Ohm on S1 and S3 (with multimeter). Like to get a better Ohmmeter to figure out the problem. -----LV There is correlation between RMS and the number of LV channels turned on, an obvious grounding problem on LV system. see:sX-rms-vs-ch-XX-lvoff-XX.gif ----Arcnet cables It seems arcnet is also playing a big role in the noise, see:s3-s12lv-off-arcoff-12-13-2k.gif ----Calibration cables Didn't see much effect from calibration system see: s3-s12lv-off-caliboff-12-13-2k.gif ----Chamber You guess it! Adding more conducting tapes cross disconnected bars/skin on any given chamber helped to reduce noise significantly. We reached the point that by adding more conducting tape won't help to reduce noise. ---- analog cables Need to check all cables. We know bad cable contribute noise. ---- DCM/TFC and Arcnet cables Should stay away from chamber and analog cable.
