SPIN PHYSICS PROGRAM
STUDY SPIN STRUCTURE OF THE NUCLEON
- Study contributions of spin of sea quarks and polarization of the gluon to the total nucleon spin
- Explain deviation of past experimental data from Ellis-Jaffe sum rule
- Measure helicity distributions of flavor separated quarks and antiquarks and gluon polarization in the nucleon
PRECISION TESTS OF SYMMETRIES
Longitudinally or transversely polarized p + p collisions at ?s from 50 to 500 GeV
2 months of spin physics running per year for 5 years:
- 2 x 1032 cm-2 s-1 at ?s = 500 GeV, request 800 pb-1
- 8 x 1031 cm-2 s-1 at ?s = 200 GeV, request 320 pb-1
