Rescattering Effects
We know that leptons, as penetrating probes, leave the interaction region unchanged, whereas kaons can be rescattered by hadronic processes.
Running RQMD (v2.4)
- RQMD = cascade code for simulation of heavy ion collisions
plotting distributions of
- all f’s that decay
- all f’s whose
- daughter kaons rescatter
- daughters kaons do not rescatter
-
- 17% of all f’s have a daughter that rescattered
- 17% of all f’s have a daughter that was absorbed
- 26% of all f’s that decay to K+K- aren’t reconstructed!
