SILICON: SINGLE-METAL PADS


Below is a picture of a pad detector, with contacts made in single-metal technology. Note traces are brought out in between rows of pads to the side (two groups of contacts can be seen on the right-hand side). To bring them out to the radial perimeter (top in this picture), a kapton cable has to be mounted on top, and the silicon is wire-bonded to this cable. The geometry of this also scrambles the pad numbering.
