We use this messaging system to intercept the messages generated by the different processes and funnel them through a server. Users and processes can register with the server and subscribe to receive messages that match a certain profile. For example, the shift crew would subscribe to all messages with severity "Error" or higher. If your name is Vince, you will probably want to subscribe to all messages whose origin is "MUID". And so on.
