Christine A. Aidala
Associate Professor of Physics, University of Michigan

I do research at the boundary of nuclear and particle physics, studying nucleon structure and parton dynamics in QCD at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory, the Main Injector at Fermilab, and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. At RHIC I have been on the PHENIX experiment since 2001 and part of the sPHENIX Collaboration since it was formed in 2015, and on the Fermilab E906/SeaQuest experiment since its construction phase in 2010. I recently joined the LHCb experiment at CERN, in the fall of 2017.

I also do work on the foundations of physics. I am currently collaborating with Gabriele Carcassi (Physics), Dave Baker (Philosophy), and Lydia Bieri (Math) on a project to derive the standard mathematical frameworks for Hamiltonian and Lagrangian mechanics from physical assumptions.
