Power Regulator and Arcnet Interface Design for Glink/Clink Crates PLM 8/31/2000 Regulator Card : This card supplies the regulated 5V and 3.3V power for an entire crate of Glink/Clink cards (6) plus the arcnet interface card (1). The regulator board has 5 input power connectors for the LV power supplies (6-7V, fused at 4A). 5 on-board LDO regulators with heat sinks are used to provide four +5V outputs and one +3.3V output at 3.3A max. The output power connectors are DB9 female for +5V and DB9 male for +3.3V. This 6U VME card requires fan cooling for the power regulators. Logic is included to sequence the turn-on of the 5V and 3.3V outputs. The four 5V outputs turn on first. About 25+ ms after the 5V supplies have stabilized the 3.3V turns on. LED indicator lamps show the status of each output. Two fault outputs are provided (TTL active low) which indicate if any of the 5V outputs or the 3.3V output are under or over voltage. These fault outputs are connected to the arcnet interface card. The +3.3V supply is automatically shutdown if any of the 5V supplies fail. There is no on-board fusing. The LV power supplies are fused at 4A. The regulators automatically shutdown if overheated or overcurrent. Arcnet Interface Card: This card provides the following three functions. It requires +5V at about 600ma. Indicator LED's provide for diagnostics. Software was written by Andrew Hoover (glink.hex). 1. TTL Glink reset output signal (active low). 2. Readout of the Dallas chips (micro-lan 1-wire interface). 3. Monitoring of the 5V and 3.3V fault signals (TTL, active low).
