ACTION ITEMS:

PRIMARY CONCERNS:

1. All fasteners and structural materials affecting structural integrity, or safety in operation, support, handling, transporting or hoisting and lifting, must be U.S. certified or documentation supplied to establish acceptability to BNL's satisfaction. IHEP

2. Provide design, stress analysis, and material certification for any special handling devices. IHEP

3. The radial budget conflicts must be resolved. IHEP & BNL

4. Installation and handling provisions for both PbSc & PbGl must be defined. Determine what if any, special handling devices are required for both the Lead glass and Lead Scintillator sectors. IHEP & BNL

SECONDARY CONCERNS:

PbSc & PbGl:

1. Systems provisions for air cooling interface with the EmCal segments should be discussed. BNL/IHEP

2. An organized change control procedure must be formulated. IHEP

3. Provisions to interface with the support carriages must be better defined for both the Pb Glass and Scintillator. Interfaces of particular concern are the location and configuration of the support pins and commonality of support pads on both the PbSc & PbGl sectors/walls, cable and piping routing, and air conditioning duct connections and routing. IHEP & BNL

4. The FEE physical space and readout board configuration as well as the method of installation must be defined. IHEP,BNL & ORNL

5. An Electrical Engineering review of safety critical items is needed of the two HV power supply concepts. Mechanical concerns are form, fit, and envelope BNL

6. Requirements for survey reference points on both the PbSc & PbGl must be established and included in the assembly/installation plan. IHEP & BNL


PbSc:

1. All electronically made assembly drawings will be brought to correct scale no later than the proposed September Safety Review. IHEP

2. Hard copies of all drawings with complete signatures will be supplied by the proposed Sept Safety Review. IHEP

3. A test plan will be developed to determine the structural characteristics and failure modes of a PbSc module. IHEP & BNL

4. Drawing title blocks must include identification of the project and the institutes involved. IHEP

5. The 024 & 025 bolt drawings should be combined into one common design. IHEP

6. U.S. procured standard (non-metric) swivel hoist rings will be used for hoisting the EmCal sectors. U.S. standard (non-metric) thread taps will be procured where required. IHEP BNL will provide standards/catalog material.

7. The degree of light protection needed around the photo multiplier tube contacts for effective tube operation should be determined. IHEP & BNL?

8. The air cooling duct on the PbSc will have to be re-designed to fit within the radial clearance envelope.

9. The optical connector at the module front plate (Pb Sc) should be redesigned. Edward Kistenev suggests that it match standard AMP plastic fiber connectors. IHEP

10. To avoid transportation/handling problems, the fiber bundle should end up flat with the super module back plate. IHEP

11. Recommend that the support stand proposed for use in the final assembly of the super module at BNL should include wheels. IHEP

PbGl:

1. Provisions for air cooling should be defined for the Lead Glass. BNL

2. Lead Glass design should be reviewed by TOF and Lead Glass specialists. Cern , ORNL& Nevis

3. The actual projection of the Lead Glass front cover should be checked. BNL & CERN

4. A joint Russian and US engineering visit to Cern should be considered. BNL

5. Request drawings, material, analyses and test data from Cern for the Lead Glass design. BNL
