SpinFests and Analysis Fests

(Collaborators only)

Goals

The Spin Physics Working Group seeks to understand the spin structure of the proton through polarized proton collisions at RHIC. As the world's first high-energy polarized hadron collider, RHIC provides direct access to the gluon, allowing measurement of the gluon's contribution to the spin of the proton. The 500 GeV program, starting in 2009, will produce W bosons and probe the spin contributions of anti-up and anti-down quarks separately. The transverse-spin structure of the proton, still poorly understood, is also being explored at RHIC.

Physics Analysis

Here is a list of a few of the physics analyses being performed by the Spin Physics Working Group, some of which overlap with other working groups in PHENIX. (Collaborators should see the internal page for more details.)

Convenors
